Graphing continued
Open your saved spreadsheet of graphs from last week.
Below the Skittles color pie chart, create charts for the following data
DO NOT COPY AND PASTE THE VALUES INTO YOUR WORK
Split your screen to make the data entry easier
Do not select empty cells around your data when you are creating your chart
Just use the price of fuel and houses for those two graphs (select the data and click on the insert tab, select the graph to use
Fuel
Gasoline prices in 1933, 1943, 1953, 1963, 1973, 1983, 1993, 2003, and 2013
Use the "Current" dollar price (Column B)
Create a 2D line graph showing the rise in prices over 80 years
House
Mean (Average), not Median, home price for the following years:
1963, 1968, 1973, 1978, 1983, 1988, 1993, 1998, 2003, 2008, 2010
Use a column or bar chart to show the change in prices over 47 years
Red Wings
Number of points (far right column) earned in each season of the past 10:
2005-06 through 2014-15
Make a pie chart, but cannot use blue or white
If you have time, change the default colors in the charts
At the end of this class period, save your work and send it in using the following turnin form

Use your chosen number to collect ten facts about that person. In MS Word, make a bulleted list in your own words using the facts. Start a MS PPT slide show with your person's picture on the title slide and choose the best six facts to put on the second slide.
Continue with the data analysis tab. On the left (high sort) side use the =average formula to calculate the average high on the left and the average low on the right. The formula is =average(top cell of data numbers, such as c1 then a colon (:) and the bottom cell of data, such as c11.
Use the same idea, but different function name to determine the median high =median(c1:c11) and low
and the high and low mode =mode(c1:c11)
When complete, save your work and use the form above to send it in.

Typing your paper for Mrs. LaPerre
MLA
The preparation of papers and manuscripts in MLA style is covered in chapter four of the MLA Handbook, and chapter four of the MLA Style Manual. Below are some basic guidelines for formatting a paper in MLA style.
General Guidelines
- Type your paper on a computer and print it out on standard, white 8.5 x 11-inch paper.
- Double-space the text of your paper, and use a legible font (e.g. Times New Roman). Whatever font you choose, MLA recommends that the regular and italics type styles contrast enough that they are recognizable one from another. The font size should be 12 pt.
- Leave only one space after periods or other punctuation marks (unless otherwise instructed by your instructor).
- Set the margins of your document to 1 inch on all sides.
- Indent the first line of paragraphs one half-inch from the left margin. MLA recommends that you use the Tab key as opposed to pushing the Space Bar five times.
- Create a header that numbers all pages consecutively in the upper right-hand corner, one-half inch from the top and flush with the right margin. (Note: Your instructor may ask that you omit the number on your first page. Always follow your instructor's guidelines.)
- Use italics throughout your essay for the titles of longer works and, only when absolutely necessary, providing emphasis.
- If you have any endnotes, include them on a separate page before your Works Cited page. Entitle the section Notes (centered, unformatted)
